As the shipping industry consolidates, it has been increasingly difficult for buyers in the freight market to bargain with ocean carriers unless they already possess huge volumes. This is coupled by the fact that the number of ocean carriers has dwindled significantly over the years, making it even harder to secure space, not to mention good rates even in slack seasons.
With that in mind, a group of seasoned logistics professionals turned to digital technologies to create a revolutionary freight marketplace that would bring buyers to carriers on the one hand and let buyers “bid for” vessel space on the other.
